Russia at Dusk

Dmitry Ersler

This photo project presents a series of photographs about provincial Russia, executed in the style of classical realism. It reveals the everyday life of ordinary people living in small towns and villages.

All the subjects in this project are not models but regular people captured in their natural environments: in homes and apartments, on the streets, in places of leisure, study, and work.

Each photograph immerses the viewer in the world of these people, showcasing their lives and unique stories. The project combines elements of documentary and artistic photography, creating images reminiscent of scenes from a film. During the shoot, I aimed to mimic cinematic lighting to give the photos a distinct atmosphere and highlight the beauty and drama of everyday life.

"Russia at Dusk" is an attempt to portray the depth and diversity of life in Russia’s regions, beyond the big cities, where a completely different, unique atmosphere prevails.
